A shareholder of Dallas plaintiff’s law firm Baron & Budd has filed a lawsuit against the firm alleging that it breached an agreement to pay her a minimum amount of specified compensation and benefits. As the firm has stated, this appears to be little more than a garden variety breach of contract claim. But I have to wonder – is it me, or does it seem like plaintiff’s law firms are involved in more than their fair share of these kinds of claims? Why might that be? I have a couple of ideas, but would be interested if you all think that plaintiff’s lawyers are just plain litigious, including with one another.
