I was simply commenting that, based upon his age and the length of his sentence, it seems likely that he'll spend the rest of his life in prison. And I trust its clear from the general tenor of the posts on this blog that I agree that the sentence is draconian, if not unjust. As for a possible pardon - I think there's really not any likelihood that this President will pardon Ebbers, or any of the other white collar defendants from that era who were given ridiculously long sentences (see, e.g., Jeff Skilling). If Ebbers is hoping for a pardon, he'd better be hoping that Obama is a one termer. Well, I certainly wasn’t wishing for Mr. Ebbers’ death.
